GlassAustralia
was one of the first sites dedicated to contemporary glass on the Internet.
The site started as an information exchange between artists in Australia and
overseas. This award-winning site originally received support from the Australia
Council and the Thomas Foundation for its establishment and ever since has
continued to foster dialogue and relationships within a global glass community.
In recent years various sites have become operational from this region of
the world and GlassAustralia has taken a change in direction to reflect this
changing environment. The site now focuses more on the culture, achievements
and events of the School of Art Glass Workshop while aiming to continue
offering the much requested technical information.
This
site was originally conceived by the late Stephen Proctor (head of the Glass
Workshop At the School of Art in Canberra from 1992-2002.) Anthony Hoffman
was the web designer and editor for many years and is still a consultant
for this site.
Currently the site is maintained by the staff and students of the Glass Workshop
at the School of Art in Canberra, Australian National University.
